We are Salford Racing, the University of Salford's Formula Student Team. Comprised of students from a variety of disciplines, we concentrate on planning, designing and building a high-performance race car to compete in the annual IMechE Formula Student competition. Members of our engineering, business, and media teams collaborate closely to maximise the great opportunity Formula Student offers.

 

Our aim for the recent Formula Student 2024 event was to improve on our previous 157.0 point finish by getting our car through the scrutineering stages to the track events. For the first time in our history, Car 61 made it onto the track - an immensely proud moment for both us and our main sponsor, Morson Group.

 

We accumulated 411.6 points overall, ranking as the best among all UK universities in the North West.

 

Formula Student 2024 was an amazing experience, giving us the chance to engage with like-minded individuals at an energetic and thrilling event.

 

Formula Student 2025 was slightly more of a struggle with us unable to reach our previous position in 2024. However, this year we will come back even stronger. For 2026 we have a new team of experienced leads and eager new engineers to get us back into that top 10!
