The Formula Student racing competition is back for 2026 and so are we! Below you will find the first newsletter of the new season, giving you updates on our team advancements. After a challenging experience at Silverstone 2025, our determination to improve has only grown stronger from the knowledge we have gained.

To kick off the new season Yunis, Team Principal, has a few remarks to share:
The team is in a much stronger position compared to last year. After the disappointment at Silverstone, everyone has come back with renewed motivation and focus to push things forward. Our primary goal this season is to achieve strong results across the static events, get the car on track for the dynamic events, and ultimately secure a top 15 finish overall. I believe, with the team we have behind us, we can absolutely achieve this.
We have released the first episode of season 3 of the Car 61 podcast!
In this episode, the hosts Ollie and Jamie are joined by Aidan, our Secretary and Deputy of the Electrical Team to talk about his role and further updates within Salford Racing in these past couple months.
Major News:Â
We have announced the new team leads for the 2026 season. For more information, please see: https://www.instagram.com/salfordracing/.
Salford Racing has attended Formula Student Learn to Win 2026 and was the first team to sign up to the programme.Â
The Formula Student 2026 rules have been officially released which means that the team, during Learn to Win, was able to gain answers to questions from judges and senior engineers for the upcoming 2026 competition!
Chassis is currently under review, placing the team in a far better position than last year and setting a solid foundation for the 2026 car.
We are thrilled to welcome new members to our team! Training is at full-swing to bring new faces up-to-date with our systems, tools and standards. For example, Aero Lead Josh and Deputy Alex hosted a CFD workshop in Makerspace.
In addition, we had our first social of the year at Atmosphere with a motorsport quiz designed by Josh Dalziel for team bonding in a casual setting.

Team Updates:
Aidan - Electrical lead
The electrical team is currently reviewing the wiring diagram of the new engine. Internally, the team is training up the new members. Aidan stated that the current goal of the team is to design a reliable wiring loom that can be manufactured externally. Furthermore, the team is excited to see the car running with a new engine in place.
Yousra - Aerodynamics
The dynamics team is looking to lean more towards the simple and reliable side of their expertise. The team also wants to plan much further ahead compared to last year and provide a more solid form of organisation. Yousra herself is looking forward to the project overall, especially using knowledge earned last year to the best of the team’s advantage, as well as teaching new members that will hopefully inherit Salford Racing in the future.
Ollie - Media
The team’s main goal this year is to stay consistent with posting and keep everyone updated. Last year we did not do enough to provide updates to sponsors as well as content for supporters. However, with a Youtube channel starting up and the podcast returning back for season 3, I am sure we can do a much better job this year.
Ollie has also commented on how he is looking forward to Silverstone this year. He loved taking photos and videos of the car and the event is, overall, an amazing experience for everyone involved.Â
Upcoming Events:
We are currently in the process of organising a team building event with our sponsor, Morson Projects. Please ensure you check Whatsapp for any information on dates and further announcements on this subject.
On the 12th November 2025, we are having a design review with Salford Racing Alumni to present our current plans on the car for advise and improvements.
As a throwback to Silverstone 2025, here is Elliot Royce’s interview with the legendary Red Bull F1’s Calum Nicholas who provided heartfelt advice for the team and personal stories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ur4xH6O-Tk
We’re looking forward to seeing how, as a team, we can turn our hard work into success, both on and off the track. - Yunis
Thank you for your support and stay tuned for future updates from our team.
